Are you unemployed and having a hard time getting steady work? Did you know that there are currently thousands of jobs in all of the construction and home automation industries, but not enough job seekers? Contractors all over the state are experiencing the same thing – there are jobs, but not enough people to fill them. Ten years ago, analysts predicted that there would likely be a lack of skilled workers, as well as entry-level employees in the labor industry. And guess what? They were right!
One of the biggest factors was the recession. Analysts didn’t even know this was coming at the extent that it would affect industries everywhere. At this time, people in all sorts of labor positions, even the most skilled and experienced ones, were forced to leave their jobs. Maybe they were laid off, or they decided to retire early. Whatever it was that caused them to leave, they likely won’t be returning. This leaves the industry with less experienced employees. In combination with this factor, there simply haven’t been a lot of new apprentices starting in the field. Without these people entering the workforce, jobs that are available simply aren’t being filled. At first, there weren’t many jobs to offer and now that work has picked up, there are not enough skilled journeymen to train them in the field.
Are you a veteran? If so, you have specific priority when it comes to hiring for jobs in specific trades. Even with this priority status, we don’t often have veterans applying for positions with our company. We encourage veteran applicants to send information along to us!
