Christmas is next week…are you ready for it? Families and individuals everywhere are no doubt feeling the frenzy that comes in these final days leading up to the big holiday. There are cookies to be baked, parties to attend, gifts to buy and wrap, and homes to decorate, both inside and out. The holiday season is full of lots of fun activities and traditions, but with our busy schedules that we tend to do experience this time of year, it is often easy to forget what real meaning of the holiday: spreading holiday cheer through giving! Whether you’re giving to co-workers and friends, loved ones, or people you don’t know in the community, maintaining a strong giving spirit is vital!
Snuggling into your warm and cozy home is a wonderful thing, and it’s something that many of us take for granted. Others near you may be struggling to pay the heating bill and it is easy to forget that there are people out there that simply don’t have what they need to survive on a day to day basis. Maybe you recently upgraded your heating system in your office or home and you’re loving that. This season, remember all of those that are without a warm place to go home to, or a comforting meal to eat around a table with people they love. How can you give back? Next time you’re at the store stocking up on food for your next holiday get together, buy some extra cans of food and learn how you can donate to your local homeless shelter or food bank. Local organizations around town are often swamped with requests for assistance during the holidays.
Or, consider how you can take part in more of a hands-on giving experience, handing out blankets or putting together stockings full of toiletries, snacks, or other essentials that you can hand out to people that you meet in the community that may require extra support. There are a lot of great non-profit agencies nearby that collect clothing, diapers, and other materials that are important for families. Reaching out and being involved in these types of activities is a great way to spread love and holiday cheer.
Our team at Hybrid wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
